It was a very well-structured and engaging course which has given me insights into formal writing about architectural topics. It was well-coordinated and helped me to take up architectural writing seriously and has given me the confidence to write about issues related to architecture and planning with research. The entire course has been very professionally managed by Ethos and Acedge, and the sessions by Ar. Apurva are really good. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who has been thinking to write about architecture but has been procrastinating it due to some reason or the other. Also, it opens up a new avenue for young architects to pursue architectural writing as a career. My best wishes for more such batches in the course.

Radha Iyer, Architect, Bengaluru

A very informed trainer with simplistic and clear delivery methods. Was a pleasure to seek exposure and engagement with her.

In a time where society demands change and institutions see writing as a subject of least academic obligation, this course reiterated its purpose and its much-needed relevance in today’s times. The structuring of the 6- week programme gave a clearer over-review of helping us envision a routine of a full-time architecture writing field. The start of the course acknowledges what makes diverse minds pick up on exposure to architecture writing. Beginning with studying the authors of history emphasized the importance of simplistic writing by taking pleasure in critiquing architecture and not criticizing it. Besides simplifying writing skills, outreach was another area that received much attention throughout the course. A study on publications and media houses, analysing the essence of each and understanding writing for varied target audiences, was a part of the course routine.

By grasping many new terms and theories, an added domain of understanding how these were relevant to their respective historical eras broadened our ability to comprehend an overall picture of a situation before writing on it.

This tutorship on journalism in architecture stood as an act of responsibility been picked up by choice. With each passing week, the need to initiate provocations or discourses with peers felt an essential. Through varied writing styles, and experimenting with different genres, architecture writing stood as an art that could be best mastered with constant explorations of learning, unlearning and relearning!

We realize this field as the light at the end of the tunnel rapidly approaching an entire horizon of a bright sky. A serious opportunity awaits to be unveiled. A big thanks to you Apurva ma’am for being a catalyst to help young minds like us realise the need to fasten our vigour to begin our travel on this less explored journey!
