Testimonials (Batch 1- Writing/s in Architecture, Online Certified Course by Ar. Apurva Bose Dutta), Aug 22nd–Sep 26th, 2020

Naomi Mathew Vettath, Architect at HCP Interior Design, Ahmedabad

Absolutely loved this course! This course was a source of concentrated information about Architectural Journalism that would be very difficult to otherwise find. It was perfectly structured, ensuring that we knew about certain topics before we moved on to learn about others. Very precise information was given at the correct lesson, which ensured a smooth understanding and a great learning curve.  Exercises and assignments were also structured that way, making it very comfortable for us to follow and go through the course.

Apurva ma’am is such an amazing teacher, extremely humble and patient. She would answer every single question that was raised even though sometimes we went past our scheduled time slots. The course is also a great example of Apurva ma’am passion – she made sure each of us felt at ease; it almost felt like the course was personally structured for me! Even through the week, if we had any doubts, she was available (through Ankita)! I have learnt a lot more than I had initially hoped for from this course, and I am very glad I joined the course. If anyone needs a push or that last nudge to get enrolled, consider this as it!

Jerry Joe Elengical, Recent Graduate (2020) from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai

The course was incredibly informative and precisely structured to provide learners with a detailed introduction to the world of architectural writing. The prescribed readings were particularly interesting, and the weekly sessions were engaging, interactive, and well-paced. The course is ideal for anyone with interest in writing on architecture and design.

Asmita Singh, Interior Architect at Decon Lighting Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi

The course is very well structured. The progression between weeks is smooth, and home assignments are a delight. I got the opportunity to read pieces by so many authors, all curated by Apurva ma’am within various sub-categories. At the end of each week, we reflected on what we read in an interactive session which brought back the whole classroom experience. The course has acted as a beautiful steppingstone into the field of architecture journalism, and writing.

Toolika Mishra, Student, Chandigarh University, Chandigarh

This was the most interactive, interesting, and knowledgeable course I have ever attended, with so much personal attention given to each one of us. They gave me a new perspective to look at this field, and the readings and the assignments literally dragged me to read more and more and think in-depth about all the topics. It was so much fun, and I was honoured to learn almost face to face from my Idol THE Apurva ma’am. I simply loved each and every assignment, teaching and discussions that happened in the six weeks. Every Saturday, there was excitement in me to attend the course. Though it was a weekly session, I felt that I was into the course the remaining days too. The course gave me a new perspective to look at spaces. Words do fall short in sharing my experience!

This is a great course for anyone who is interested in writing about the built environment but doesn’t know how or where to start. The course was very informative. The mentor gave a good comprehensive understanding of the scenario of architectural writing in India and abroad. She also gave detailed and constructive feedback on all our assignments. A special commendation for the exercises and the really good resources provided. It also opened my eyes to the different styles and genres within architectural writing itself. It was a great learning experience. Apurva ma’am’s dedication in giving relevant references, clearing all queries and giving detailed, constructive feedback is the best part!Thank you, Apurva ma’am!

Bharani Sri Gujuluva, Student, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore

The course was greatly eye-opening, and I strongly believe that it has laid a sturdy foundation for all my future pursuits in the field of architectural journalism. The emphasis on content and the way it was structured gave a wholistic view of the field. Beyond the knowledge directly shared, Apurva ma’am also did a great job in creating a space for like-minded people to share views and opinions on common topics, which I think is more important to any course. So, thank you, ma’am, for all that you have done.

Muzakkir G M Bijli, Associate Professor, MEASI Academy of Architecture, Chennai

This was my first online course, and I was sceptical about how it would turn out, but I found it out to be very interesting as we moved through the course. The way our mentor Apurva ma’am handled the course and the way the course content was packaged in sessions was very apt. Things that stood out in the course were clearing of doubts, if any, without any apprehensions and the reading material shared. Thank you to Apurva ma’am for being a wonderful and inspiring instructor and ACEDGE for creating the platform. One of the very few useful things I could say I did during the lockdown.

Garryn Stephens, Postgraduate student, University of Cape Town, South Africa

This was my first online course, and what a pertinent time to start! The course content of Architectural Writing is very relevant and undermined in Architectural Schools and Practice in South Africa. Being the only student outside of India, I felt very welcome! The content exposed me to the essential tools for a budding writer and the enthusiasm of both the mentor, Ar. Apurva Bose Dutta, the ACEDGE team, and the other students were inspiring and humbling. Thank you, Apurva Ma’am, for the great opportunity to learn from you and especially for your commitment and passion!

Neha Shetty, Recent Graduate (2020) from KLE Technological University, Hubli, Karnataka

The course was very insightful, and it broadened the horizons of writing, for Apurva ma’am has an energy that kept all of us going. She is an amazing mentor. The articles and the little mentor advice shared is an asset to us. I thank Ankita for being such a great coordinator.

Ananya Asthana, Architect at National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (Nrlc), Lucknow

I am extremely happy to have enrolled myself in this course and learning the craft of writing from none other than Apurva ma’am. She’s an inspiration, and after taking this course, I can vouch for the fact that she’s also a very good teacher. Ever so patient and sweet with everyone’s queries, she is a great mentor. The course was very well curated; each session was packed with so much information and learning, and we’re all taking back something valuable. Thank you, ma’am, for being the best mentor.

Sonali Agarwal, Partner & Architect at Space and Vision, and Faculty at Chandigarh College of Architecture, Chandigarh

‘A beacon of light’ is what the ACEDGE-facilitated writing course meant to me, an architect hesitating at the borders of professional writing, waiting for some direction. The structuring of the course is sensible, and its rich content has helped expand my horizons vastly. A visually interactive mode maintains one’s interest and holds a lot of merits. The short course has instilled in me the confidence to follow my passion with renewed vigor. Kudos to ACEDGE on its mission of nurturing young creative minds in the field of architecture.

Drishti Joshi, Student, Raman Bhakta School of Architecture, Surat

The course was beautifully curated by Apurva ma’am, catering to almost all the aspects of architectural writing and journalism. Each session was loaded with so much knowledge and followed by a discussion with other learners. The approach towards conducting the course felt very personal, with individual attention to everyone. Ma’am never hesitated in addressing our requests and questions. She looked at each of our assignments and gave her comments and, that was literally the best bit ever to get one-on-one attention from the mentor herself!

A very insightful course with thought-provoking inputs from the mentor. I didn’t expect that apart from architectural writing, I would also get a detailed insight into the further opportunities in the field and learn about architecture as well! Ma’am’s feedback on the assignment helped me and boosted my confidence to write more and to write better, and gave me a better sense of direction. This was the best online course and the best six weeks of the lockdown. Thank you, ma’am!

Anjali Purswani, Architect at Dsync Architects, Bengaluru

I have immense gratitude for the organizers of the course. It was a very informative and well-rounded learning experience. It definitely gives me more confidence to explore the field of architecture journalism further. Also, I highly appreciate the reading material and feedbacks shared by the mentor.

Isha Chaudhari, Recent Graduate (2020) from PVP College of Architecture, Pune

What I loved about the course was that there was a major weighted focus on reading as much as writing, if not more. Without the earlier exercises, the last assignment would have been hollower. And the articles selected were also extremely insightful. I think we’ll be leaving this course as better readers, if not writers.

Samruddhi Shendurnikar, Student, Dr. B.N. College of Architecture, Pune

It was a great learning experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed this course and feel grateful for all the information it gave me!

The course was extremely insightful and informative. All the modules and exercises were perfectly structured to give the learners maximum knowledge. This was my first online live class, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Apurva ma’am is a wonderful teacher and mentor who guided us throughout the course while sharing with us her experiences and knowledge. She ensured that the entire experience was extremely engaging and interactive throughout. I enjoyed listening to the perspectives of all the learners during various discussions, which paved the way for further thought. In a short span of six weeks, we were able to create connections with each other that we hope to maintain in the future. As the group was a mix of students, professionals, and teachers, we had a variety of thoughts and opinions during the discussions. It’s a great course to expand your viewpoints and broaden your horizon in the field of architectural writing. I would love to attend part two of this course whenever conducted. Thanks to the entire team of ACEDGE, Ankita Arora, our coordinator, and Ar. Apurva Bose Dutta for this wonderful and memorable experience.
